Newpul-Birethanti-Ghandruk Road Fully Reopens After Flood Damage

Kaski. The Newpul-Birethanti-Ghandruk road, which was obstructed due to repeated floods in the Modi Khola and Kimrung Khola areas, has fully resumed traffic services. The road, which connects the popular tourist destination Ghandruk in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski with Pokhara, had been obstructed since August 13. The rural municipality chairman Bishnu Bahadur KC informed that the road has been fully operational since this morning after the initial reconstruction and repair was completed on Monday evening.

According to him, due to damage to various parts of the road caused by repeated floods in the Modi Khola and Kimrung Khola areas during the monsoon, the settlements in wards 8, 9, 10, and 11 of Annapurna Rural Municipality were completely cut off from the road network. Birethanti in Annapurna-8 is the gateway to ABC and Punhill and Ghorepani. While 100 meters of paved road was washed away by the Modi Khola's erosion in Birethanti, the Birethanti market was also at risk.
