US Plans Military Base Restoration and Establishment in Greenland

Greenland. The United States plans to restore a Cold War-era military base in southern Greenland and establish another military base on Greenland's east coast. The east coast location is currently used by Denmark's dog sled patrol team. The plans will be advanced through an agreement with Denmark and Greenland to be signed on Tuesday, according to related sources cited by Reuters news agency.

According to this, the US military base will be re-established in Narsarsuaq, southern Greenland. After the US closed its Blueie West One military base there in the 1950s, only a few dozen people now live there. Another military site will be established in Mestersvig, which is currently used by the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol under Denmark's special military force.
