Bhote Koshi Flood: Nature's Rebellion Against Human Exploitation

It was the 10th of Bhadra. We were plowing with a tractor for winter cultivation at the Shramshila Production Unit in Thulo Lumpek, Gulmi. Tomatoes were growing inside plastic tunnels, with lattes and okra fruiting nearby. A total of nine of us – Chetmanji, the chairman of the Satyawati Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Group, Biru Dai, Jhupee Didi, Lila Bhanja, Khuman Jethan, Om Rahadi, Hamri Boi, Tekan, and myself – were busy with collective work since morning.

Around 1 PM, during lunch, Tekan said, 'There has been a flood in Rasuwa, the entire village has been devastated,' which startled us. I thought of my friends in Rasuwa, Prakashji, and the critic Gurung Sushant and fellow poet Rasuwali who live in Kathmandu. We returned home late and turned on the net, only to hear continuous notification sounds on Messenger. The mobile screen was filled with horrific videos and footage of screams trending.
