Foreign Investors Keen on Nepal, But Implementation Lags, Says Investment Board CEO

Kathmandu. Although foreign investors are eager and attracted to invest in Nepal, the effective implementation of approved investment has not been possible, said Yangki Ukyab, Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board. Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly's Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, she expressed the view that it is necessary to transform approved investment into actual projects and employment.
She also mentioned that they are active in developing the Investment Board as a 'Delivery Unit' focused on project implementation. According to her, investment worth approximately 1.67 trillion rupees has been approved by the Investment Board in the past 14 years. However, she stated that further study is needed on how much of the approved investment has actually reached development projects. Mentioning that there is a large gap between approved investment and the amount going into implementation, she emphasized connecting approved investment with employment and production.
