Kathmandu. China has won the gold medal in women's volleyball at the 20th Asian Games. In the final held on Tuesday, China defeated the home team Japan in straight sets 3-0 to win the gold. China took the first set 25-19 in its favor. In the second set as well, China defeated Japan 25-20 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Although Japan took the lead in the beginning of the third set, China made an excellent comeback and secured the set 25-23. In the decisive third set, China was trailing 1-7 from the beginning. After that, China made a comeback by scoring consecutive points and eventually won the set 25-23 to secure the gold. With this, China has won the gold medal in women's volleyball at the Asian Games for the third consecutive time. China's women's volleyball team has also won its 10th gold medal in the history of the Asian Games. Earlier, it had won gold in 1982, 1986, 1990, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2018, and 2022. Before reaching the final this time, China had defeated Thailand 3-2 in five sets in the semi-finals. In that match, China won with set scores of 2-3, 21-25, 11-25, 28-26, and 15-6. China reached the final after passing the group stage and quarter-finals. On the other hand, the home team Japan reached the final by defeating South Korea 3-0 in the semi-finals. Japan had defeated Korea 25-20, 25-22, and 25-16. After being defeated by China in the final, Japan had to settle for the silver medal. China had also defeated Japan 3-0 in the final of the previous edition's Hangzhou Asian Games to win the gold.
