Children Losing Sight Due to Untested Eyesight

Chitwan. Many children are losing their eyesight due to not being tested on time. Doctors say that if eye problems are detected within eight years, they can be resolved.

Dr. Manisha Shrestha, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Bharatpur Eye Hospital, emphasizes the need for eye examinations within two years of birth. She stated that 80 percent of eye development occurs within the first two years, and if tested during this period, any problems can be resolved. She said, “The first two years of a child's life are very important for their eyes.” This period is also called the golden thousand days. If not done during this time, she advised not to exceed eight years.
