UN Secretary-General Calls for Global Cooperation on AI Risk Management

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged for more effective international cooperation to manage the potential risks that may arise with the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) in a responsible and safe manner. He stated that it is necessary to build a multilateral AI risk management framework based on consensus among member states for this purpose.

Addressing the inauguration of the general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Secretary-General Guterres noted that with the rapid development of technology, the nature of power and influence in the world is also changing. According to him, in the past, power was mainly related to territory, then industry and finance, whereas now the role of data, computing power, and algorithms is continuously increasing.
