Chinese President Xi Jinping Begins Three-Day State Visit to the US

Washington. Chinese President Xi Jinping began a three-day state visit to the United States on Wednesday. He will be welcomed by US President Donald Trump at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington. Xi's first state visit in more than a decade is being prepared with special honors. The two leaders are expected to discuss trade, artificial intelligence, rare minerals, Iran, and Taiwan during the visit. Despite ongoing differences on trade and other issues, the visit is seen as an effort to maintain dialogue and strategic stability in US-China relations. A formal welcome ceremony, military honors, and a state dinner will be held at the White House on Thursday. Tech industry leaders will attend the dinner. On Friday, Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan will have a tea meeting with Trump and First Lady Melania Trump and visit the National Archives. Earlier in May, when Trump visited China, Xi himself did not welcome him. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng welcomed him. During that time, the US President's plane was welcomed in Beijing with a red carpet, military honor guard, military band, and hundreds of children carrying flags.

However, Republican Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, Roger Wicker, disagreed with the grand welcome given to Xi. He said that attention should be paid to issues such as China's military expansion and China's support for Iran during the talks.
