Sri Lanka Court Convicts 15 in 2019 Easter Bombings

Kathmandu. A Sri Lankan court on Tuesday convicted 15 people for aiding and abetting the planning and preparation of the Easter Sunday bombings in churches and hotels in 2019, which killed 267 people. The court acquitted and released nine others accused in the same case.

On April 21, 2019, suicide bombers inspired by the Islamic State carried out explosions in three churches and three hotels, killing 267 people, including 42 foreign nationals, and injuring 574. All the attackers directly involved in the attacks have died.
