Driver Arjun Dong Tamang Sets Bus on Fire After Dispute with Traffic Police, Dies

Kathmandu. On Asar 5, in Tripureshwor, driver Arjun Dong Tamang set fire to the bus with number Ba5kha 4274 of Rddhisiddhi Yatayat. After a dispute with the traffic police, he set fire to the bus he was driving at 12:15 PM. He died during treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital due to the fire. Police have called the bus co-driver Rupesh Phuyal and questioned him about the incident. The Metropolitan Crime Investigation Office called him and recorded his statement about the incident. Phuyal told the police that Arjun set the fire by sprinkling petrol at the back of the vehicle. They had bought petrol on Asar 1, Vishwakarma Puja day, to clean the vehicle. Since there was excess petrol bought to clean the grease and mobile oil in the bus, it was kept at the back of the vehicle. Police investigation shows that he used that petrol to set the fire. An officer involved in the investigation said, 'There was about half a bottle of petrol inside the vehicle, and it appears he set fire to the vehicle and himself by sprinkling that petrol.' Before setting the fire, Arjun told the co-driver to go outside. The co-driver told the police that Arjun had sent him out saying, 'I have some private matters to discuss, you go smoke a cigarette.' The co-driver told the investigation officers that he smoked a cigarette near the eye hospital after being sent out, saying he had to talk to his girlfriend and the traffic police. SSP Santosh Khadka of the Metropolitan Crime Investigation Office told Ratoppati that the co-driver was called and his statement about the incident was recorded. He said, 'We have questioned the co-driver about the incident and recorded his statement.' Police investigation shows that after the dispute with the traffic police escalated, Arjun took out the petrol from the back and set the fire while sitting in the middle. Security personnel broke down the door, took him out, and sent him to the hospital. It was difficult for the police to identify him because the details of the license he submitted to Rddhisiddhi Yatayat were different. After a long effort, it was confirmed that the driver was Arjun Dong Tamang from Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-3, Sisneri, Makwanpur, said SSP Dilip Ghimire of the District Police Complex Kathmandu to Ratoppati. Arjun's birth registration details show he was born on Kartik 7, 2057. His father is Shyam Bahadur Dong and his mother is Maili Maya Dong. His father had married two women. His father has passed away. They are seven brothers from two families. Arjun has not yet made any details of citizenship or license. However, it has been found that he also opened a bank account using Dawa Lama's citizenship, said SSP Dilip Ghimire of the District Police Complex Kathmandu. Arjun had submitted a copy of someone else's license with his photo pasted on it to Rddhisiddhi Yatayat, according to police investigation findings. It was found that he submitted a copy of Dawa Lama's license with his photo pasted on it to the committee.
