Pakistan Claims Afghan Taliban Forces Fired Mortars on Border Post; Kabul Denies Attack

Islamabad. Pakistani local officials said that Afghan Taliban forces fired mortars and other heavy weapons on a Pakistani border post overnight. Kabul, however, claimed that its security forces did not carry out any such attack.

According to Pakistani officials, Afghan Taliban forces fired on the border post after the Pakistani army foiled an attempt by terrorist groups to infiltrate across the border. They said the Pakistani army targeted Taliban border posts, mortar firing positions, and other defensive structures with artillery in retaliation.
