Citizens Alert App Addresses Public Grievances and Aids Disaster Relief

Kathmandu. Every day, Nepali citizens see many irregularities around them such as potholes, dilapidated roads, broken streetlights, drainage problems, or traffic violations. However, people get fed up with the phone calls and cumbersome paperwork required to complain and stop complaining. To overcome this despair, young people have launched 'Nagrik Alert'. Not only that, but they have also made Nagarik Alert a reliable medium for advance warning during disasters. Alert also provides information about potential floods, landslides, rain, and road blockages.

This platform, brought together by some young people from Lalitpur, allows citizens to register complaints in seconds by taking photos of the problem, tagging the exact location, and selecting a category. This app was started by young people including Yujesh Maleku, who have worked in the IT sector, along with Subodh Rajbhandari, Naren Maharjan, Ashwini Woma, and Kabindra Rajmall.
