Foreign Minister Khanal Seeks Long-Term International Aid for Nepal's Reconstruction

Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has stated that long-term international cooperation is necessary for the resettlement and reconstruction of disaster-affected Nepal. While addressing the latest situation of climate-induced disasters in Nepal at the G7 Development Ministers' meeting held on the occasion of the 81st UN General Assembly, he urged for G7 cooperation and collaboration in resettlement, climate finance, disaster preparedness, multilateral financial cooperation, and issues related to the Himalayan region.

Addressing the meeting on behalf of Nepal, Minister Khanal expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people to the G7 member states and other friendly nations for expressing solidarity and support towards Nepal during the difficult situation of climate disasters. 'Nepal highly values the leadership that the G7 has been playing in advancing international cooperation in the fields of climate change, sustainable development, resilience, and disaster risk reduction,' he said. He also thanked France, the President of the G7, for organizing the meeting.
