Trump Welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington with Unprecedented Formal Honors

Washington DC. US President Donald Trump has welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington with unprecedented formal honors during a three-day visit. Xi's visit, amid an ongoing trade war between the two countries, is considered important from the perspective of US-China relations.

At Joint Base Andrews, Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan were welcomed by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump on the red carpet. The welcome ceremony included a 21-gun salute, the US Air Force band, American and Chinese national flags, and military representatives from both countries. Two B-1 bombers also flew overhead.
