Roads Department Intensifies Maintenance Ahead of Festivals Amidst Flood and Landslide Concerns

Kathmandu. The great festivals of Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath are approaching for Nepalis. However, due to the extremely dilapidated and precarious condition caused by recent floods and landslides, it has become challenging to transport passengers returning home for the festivals to their destinations. Similarly, transport entrepreneurs have warned that they will not open advance bus tickets for Dashain until the roads are improved.

The meeting of stakeholders on Monday concluded without any conclusion as entrepreneurs maintained their stance of not opening bookings until there is a minimum guarantee of road safety to transport passengers safely to their destinations. Following pressure from entrepreneurs, the Department of Roads has stated that it has intensified the work of rapid maintenance targeting the festivals.
