Highway Updates Due to Heavy Rainfall and Landslides

Kathmandu. Due to continuous rain, the risk of floods and landslides has increased in various parts of the country, affecting major highways. According to the latest data released by the Nepal Police as of Thursday 8:30 AM, many road sections in Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces are completely or partially obstructed. In the Solukhumbu district of Koshi province, heavy rainfall is expected until October 12, including on the Siddhi Charan Lokmarg and other internal roads. Considering this risk, all vehicles except essential ones and pedestrians are completely prohibited from traveling in the Solukhumbu area from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. In the same province, due to a landslide on the Mid-Hill Highway in Dautekhola, Ward 01 of Haleshi Tuwachung Municipality, Khotang, the road is only operating one-way. In Bagmati province, on the BP Highway running through Khurkot-Nepalethok-Katunjebesi in Kavre district, freight vehicles up to 10 tons will be allowed to operate from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM until further notice. Similarly, private and public passenger vehicles will operate from 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In Nuwakot, on the Tokha Chhahare road section, at Ghattēkhola in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-8, vehicle operation is prohibited from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM due to potential floods and landslides. In Simtar, Ward 10 of Bidur Municipality, on the Pasang Lhamu road section in Nuwakot, the road is completely blocked due to flooding. The main highways in Rasuwa district are also completely blocked due to floods. In Dhading district, on the Prithvi Lokmarg, at Jwankhola in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 and Benighat Rorang-07 Krishnabhir, landslides have occurred, and the road is operating only one-way. In Makwanpur, on the Kantirajmarg, Bhainse-Bhimfedi-Deurali-Kulekhani road section, travel is completely prohibited at night from 7:00 PM on October 9 to 5:00 AM due to the risk of potential landslides. In Lumbini province, on the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road section in Arghakhanchi, near Dungrekhola in Panini Rural Municipality-2 (between Damar and Gholi), a landslide has occurred, completely blocking the road. In Palpa district, on the Siddhartha Highway, at Dam site in Tinau Rural Municipality-3, a landslide occurred, but the road has been made one-way. Due to adverse weather conditions, concerned authorities have urged the public to exercise caution while traveling and to check the latest road conditions before embarking on their journey.
