Nepali Communist Leaders, Diplomats, Intellectuals Call for Unity to Defend Nationalism

Kathmandu. Leaders of various communist parties of Nepal, foreign affairs experts, and leftist intellectuals have stated that they are ready to unite to protect Nepal's nationalism, which is in its greatest crisis in history. They have also called on the government, political parties, and the general public to unite for relief and rescue in the national disaster.

Participating in a grand brainstorming session organized by the Central Committee of the Socialist Communist Party of Nepal in the capital on Saturday, leaders of various political parties, diplomats, and intellectuals acknowledged that Nepal's nationalism is facing a crisis as severe as that after the Sugauli Treaty. In his keynote paper titled 'Crisis of Nepal's Nationalism and the Need for United Resistance,' presented by Ashok Subedi, General Secretary of the Socialist Communist Party of Nepal, foreign affairs expert Hiranyalal Shrestha stated that imperialist powers are seeking returns on their investments made during the Maoist insurgency, elections, and government formation, which has further exacerbated the crisis of Nepal's nationalism in recent times.
