Steel Shortage Halts Construction of Three Modern Bridges on Asian Highway

Jhapa. Construction of three modern bridges on the western section of the Kakarbhitta–Laukahi road project, part of the Asian Highway, has been affected due to a shortage of steel.

According to project chief Jagat Prajapati, modern 'steel arch' technology bridges are being constructed over the Ratuwa in Jhapa and Lohandra and Bakraha rivers in Morang under the fifth package of the project. He stated that the construction work has been affected due to the inability to supply the required steel.
