Nepal Warns of Climate Catastrophe Amidst Devastating Floods

Mr. Chairman, Mr. Secretary-General, Your Excellencies Ambassadors and Representatives, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand before you today carrying a near warning from a faraway land nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Nepal, for humanity. I wish I could be here today to speak only of development, democracy, peace, and the aspirations of a young nation. But instead, I must speak of immense devastation and death, of families waiting for loved ones who will never return, of communities searching for the bodies of their kin in mud, stones, and water, bodies that may never be found.
