Seti River Floods Ramghat Area in Pokhara, Disrupts Gandruk Road Access

As the water level in Ramghat rises, slum settlements of Pokhara-9 and Pokhara-11 located on the river banks, Ramghat, Shanti Ghat, and the cremation grounds of the Buddhist monastery have also become submerged and are at risk.

Security personnel have been mobilized in the slum settlements around Ramghat as the flow of water in the Seti has increased and formed a lake in Ramghat, and the police are continuously monitoring the situation, informed Chitrangat Baral, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski. According to him, officials of the District Security Committee, led by Chief District Officer Kuman Singh Gurung, have conducted an on-site inspection of the area around Ramghat. “As in the past, even though a lake has formed due to the high flow of water, the locals themselves have said that there is no need to panic yet. We have mobilized security personnel and are conducting precautionary measures and risk assessments. Looking at the current situation, it is necessary to be alert and aware rather than panicked. As soon as there is danger, the settlements on both sides of the river will be in safe places,” said Assistant CDO Baral.
