Humla Records Heaviest Rainfall Since 1978 After Weather System Moves West

Humla. Heavy rainfall has occurred in Humla of Karnali Province as the system causing rain moved west. This is the heaviest rainfall since 1978. According to the Meteorological and Climate Science Office Surkhet's Office Chief Dr. Indira Kandel, 114.8 millimeters of rain was recorded in Simikot, the district headquarters of Humla, in the 24 hours from 1:00 PM on Friday, October 9th to 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 10th.

According to her, Simikot recorded 110 millimeters of rain in 2021 and 98 millimeters in 2015. Office Chief Dr. Kandel said, "For Humla, 114.8 millimeters of rain is extreme rainfall. This is also a record-breaking rainfall. In Simikot, the district headquarters of Humla, located at an altitude of two thousand nine hundred ninety-three meters above sea level, rainfall has been measured for fourteen thousand one hundred thirteen days. Of these, there is a record of three thousand seven hundred ninety-four days with more than one millimeter of rain."
