Heavy Rainfall Causes Damage, 21 Dead, 5 Missing

Kathmandu. Heavy to very heavy rainfall from October 8 to 11 due to a low-pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal has caused loss of life and property in various parts of the country. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 21 people have died, 5 are missing, and 5 have been injured in disasters related to rainfall. 747 families have been directly affected by the rain.

The authority stated that it had activated preparedness and response plans to minimize potential risks as soon as the forecast of heavy rainfall was received. After the forecast bulletin was released by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the authority issued regular press notes and advisories, directing the concerned bodies to be in a state of readiness.
