India's Home Minister Amit Shah Discusses Gorkha Community's Demands, Proposal Sparks Sikkim Controversy

Biratnagar. India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited North Bengal for three days a month ago. On the last day of his visit, he held discussions with Gorkha leaders and representatives of the West Bengal government.

Informing through his official social media after the meeting, Home Minister Shah announced, 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is fully committed to addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Gorkha community. A framework for a permanent political solution will be prepared within the purview of the Indian Constitution.'
