Som Bahadur Kumal Sets New National Record in 800m at Asian Games

Kathmandu. In the men's 800m race at the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan, Nepal's Som Bahadur Kumal has set a new national record. Competing in Heat-1 at Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya City, Japan on Sunday, Som Bahadur completed the 800m distance in 1 minute 48.95 seconds, establishing a new national record.

In the first heat with seven athletes, Som Bahadur finished fifth. He led in the initial and middle stages of the race, being in third place after completing 600 meters. However, he dropped to fifth as two athletes overtook him in the final 200 meters.
