At Least 62 Dead in Uttar Pradesh Floods, 46 Injured

New Delhi. At least 62 people have died and 46 have been injured in floods caused by heavy rainfall for the past three days in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, while more than one thousand houses have been damaged due to the floods, the state government informed on Monday.

Schools have been closed in some areas including the capital Lucknow on Monday after heavy rains caused floods in various districts of the state. Rescue teams are shifting people from flood-affected areas to safe places. Local residents have been urged not to travel unnecessarily in waterlogged areas and to stay away from rivers, streams, and drains flowing at high speed.
