Foreign Tourists Cut Short Annapurna Circuit Treks Due to Rain

Lamjung. Foreign tourists who reached Manang via the Annapurna Circuit trekking route have started returning to Lamjung from the middle of their journey due to continuous rain and adverse weather. Tourists who had planned to reach destinations like Mustang and Pokhara by crossing the Thorongla Pass have started returning from Manang itself due to the bad weather and increasing risks. According to Bhupendra Gurung, in-charge of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Dharapani, 246 foreign tourists have returned to Lamjung from Manang in the last one week. Among those returning, there were 151 men and 95 women. The number of tourists returned from Asauj 6 to 12. Until a few days ago, 100 to 150 foreign tourists used to go to Manang daily via Dharapani. In the recent times, tourist arrivals have decreased due to adverse weather. Currently, only one or two tourists are going towards Manang, and most tourists have started returning.
