Kaligandaki River Flood Damages Transmission Towers, Halts Power Generation in Myagdi

Myagdi. Towers of the 220 KV capacity Kaligandaki Corridor's Dana-Khurgot transmission line have been washed away by the floodwaters of the Kaligandaki River in Annapurna Rural Municipality, Myagdi.

Six hydropower projects with a capacity of 176 megawatts in Myagdi and Mustang have been shut down after the flood washed away the transmission line towers and wires. The Ghaledikhola hydropower project with a capacity of 5 MW, Mristhikhola with 42 MW, Niligiri-1 with 38 MW, Niligiri-2 with 71 MW, and Relekhola with 6 MW, all located in Narchyang in Ward No. 4 of Annapurna Rural Municipality, which supply electricity to the central system through the Dana-Khurgot transmission line, have been shut down. Electricity from the 14 MW Thapakhola hydropower project in Tukuche, Mustang, is also not being connected to the central system.
