Nepali Congress Makwanpur Regional Convention Begins

Makwanpur. The regional convention of Nepali Congress Makwanpur is starting from Tuesday. The convention in 2 House of Representatives and 4 Provincial Assembly constituencies of Makwanpur under the 15th General Convention of Congress is starting from today. The Provincial Assembly regional convention which was scheduled for last Friday was postponed due to continuous rain and adverse weather. The election date was changed as per the decision of the Election Committee of the Nepali Congress and the information from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology that it might rain for a few days. The committee had set the election for federal constituencies for October 14 and the provincial assembly regional convention for October 13. According to the revised schedule, the Provincial Assembly regional convention will be held on Tuesday, October 13, and the House of Representatives regional convention will be held on Wednesday, October 14. The Provincial Assembly regional convention will elect the office bearers and members of the Provincial Assembly regional committee as well as provincial representatives. Elections will be held for the posts of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Joint Secretary (2 people including one woman) of the Provincial Assembly regional committee. The Provincial Assembly regional committee will elect 2 women, 1 Dalit, 1 youth, 3 open, and 6 inclusive members. The treasurer will be selected from among the provincial members at the proposal of the chairman and 7 members will be nominated. Also, the Congress statute provides for the election of 24 provincial representatives from the Provincial Assembly regional convention. The provincial assembly regional convention will elect 2 women, 8 open, 1 professional expert, 1 woman and 1 open youth, 1 disabled, 1 open, 1 from among the democrat fighters, martyr's family and conflict victims, 1 Dalit, 1 minority, and 6 proportional provincial representatives. The total regional representatives of Nepali Congress Makwanpur are 2,528, of which 1,077 are in Makwanpur-1 and 1,451 are in Makwanpur-2. In Makwanpur's House of Representatives Constituency No. 1, Provincial Assembly Constituency (A) will have 712 voters, (B) will have 357 voters, and in House of Representatives Constituency No. 2, (A) will have 734 voters and Provincial Assembly Constituency (B) will have 693 voters.
