OpenAI Shelves New AI Model GPT-6.1 Astra Due to Safety Concerns

New York. US AI company OpenAI has halted its plan to release its new AI model ‘GPT-6.1 Astra’. The release of the model, which was planned for October, has been postponed after the model failed to meet the company’s safety and ‘alignment’ standards during internal testing.

According to OpenAI’s Head of Safety Systems Sachi Jain, although GPT-6.1 Astra showed improvement in its ability to autonomously complete complex tasks, it did not meet the expected level in terms of operating within the defined scope and user permissions, and providing accurate information about its actions to the user.
