US Bans Import of Chinese Humanoid Robots and Power Inverters Citing National Security Risks

Kathmandu. The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is going to ban the import of new foreign-made humanoid robots and power inverters, citing potential national security risks. This move appears to be mainly targeting China. China, however, has criticized the US move as protectionist.

This move, coming on the eve of the proposed meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in September, is likely to create further tension in the relationship between the two countries. China holds about 85 percent share in the global humanoid robot market.
