Landslides Damage Key Road to Kathmandu Valley Ahead of Dashain Festival

Kathmandu. The main road connecting Kathmandu Valley to various parts of the country has been severely damaged due to landslides caused by continuous rain. This 95-kilometer stretch, part of the Prithvi Highway and Tribhuvan Highway, has been affected since last Thursday due to continuous rain. Meanwhile, with the Dashain festival approaching, the movement of passengers leaving Kathmandu Valley has started. The landslide, road subsidence, and damaged condition at dozens of places on this road, which serves as the main lifeline for millions of citizens returning to their hometowns during Dashain every year, have caused concern among travelers about how difficult this year's Dashain journey might be. However, the Department of Roads, Nagdhunga-Mugling Road Project Office, and local administration have stated that they are working day and night to ensure passengers reach their destinations safely and smoothly during Dashain.
