Nepal Cracks Down on Spending, Cutting Political Staff and State Agencies

Nepal government has announced a series of major decisions aimed at curbing government expenditure. In a significant move on Wednesday, cabinet decided to eliminate the provision of personal secretaries for Members of Parliament and dissolve the Land Issues Resolution Commission, which had long faced accusations of being a center for political appointments.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of finance, the government has also decided to halt funding for new and small-scale projects. Federal funds will be frozen for projects that lack adequate preparation, are deemed low-priority, have duplicate entries, or could be managed at the provincial and local levels.
