Supreme Court Orders US Travel Permits for Bhutanese Refugee Children

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has issued a mandamus order in the name of the government to provide the 'exit permit' required for three children of Bhutanese refugees, born in the Beldangi camp in Jhapa, to reunite with their parents in America.

A joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shanti Singh Thapa has issued such an order in the name of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the District Administration Office, Jhapa, ruling that the children cannot be deprived of their right to live with their families due to the indecision and procrastination of the administrative bodies.
