Flood Devastates Energy Sector, Damaging Hydropower Projects and Infrastructure

Kathmandu. On the 10th of Bhadra, the devastating flood in the BhoteKoshi and Trishuli rivers washed away dozens of hydropower structures in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, turning them into riverbeds.

The flood completely destroyed 11 projects, including those under the Nepal Electricity Authority and private sector projects that were operational and under construction. Irreparable damage occurred to dams, headworks, powerhouses, access roads, and transmission structures.
