The number of voters for Nepal's upcoming House of Representatives election, scheduled for 5 th of March next year, is set to increase after President Ramchandra Poudel issued an ordinance to amend the voter registration act. The move is primarily aimed at including young voters from the "Gen-Z" demographic who were previously unregistered.
The ordinance, recommended by the Council of Ministers, clears the legal path for the Election Commission (EC) to reopen voter registration, a process that was previously barred by existing laws once an election had been held. The current voter count stands at 18.1 million.
