Hospitals Charging Arbitrary Fees for 'Whole Body Checkups'

Kathmandu. Private and government hospitals have been found to be charging arbitrary fees in the name of whole body checkups.

Due to the government not setting clear criteria and fees, hospitals are making their own packages and collecting undue amounts from patients. Nowhere in the World Health Organization's guidelines is there mention of 'whole body checkup' and 'health package'. However, hospitals have been found to charge service recipients up to 36,000 rupees in the name of whole body and package.
