Traditionally strong and vibrant, the left movement in Nepal is in retreat, as its major party entities- which previously boasted of owning the widest support base- fall into disarray. The marginalised community which formed its backbone has lost its sympathy for it. Confronted with this shift, the left parties and their allied mass organisations appear to be in a state of unprecedented panic and anxiety.
