Energy Minister Urges Public to Reduce Unnecessary Electricity Consumption

Kathmandu. Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has stated that even if electrical appliances are not in use at home or office, leaving them on standby or plugged in unnecessarily consumes 5 to 20 percent of the total electricity consumption.
Minister Shrestha mentioned that this continuous consumption from unused electrical appliances is called 'energy vampire' or 'phantom energy' and urged the general public to use electricity sparingly.
