Japan's First Mayor on Maternity Leave, Shoko Kawata, Named Among Time's 100 Emerging Leaders

Tokyo. 36-year-old Shoko Kawata, who became Japan's first mayor to take maternity leave, has been included in Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential emerging people.

She received this international recognition a few weeks after giving birth to her first child on September 15.
