6 Workers Die in Two Separate Turkish Mine Accidents

Kathmandu. 6 workers have died in two separate mine accidents in Turkey. Seven workers were trapped when a mine collapsed in Soma, Manisa province in western Turkey on Thursday. The rescue team recovered the bodies of two people and rescued two others alive and took them to the hospital. The death toll reached five after the bodies of three more workers trapped inside the mine were found on Friday morning.

Following the accident, nine officials, including the manager of the company operating the mine, have been taken into custody on charges of possible negligence. Soma is also famous for the devastating mine accident in 2014, in which 301 people lost their lives.
