Flooding Devastates Seti Beni; Homes Washed Away, Businesses Destroyed

Parbat. Despite receiving advance notice of continuous rainfall from October 8, locals in Seti Beni, the confluence of Kaligandaki and Seti rivers in Parbat, Syangja, and Gulmi, had assumed only a normal flood would occur as the water levels in the Kaligandaki and Seti rivers rose. Until Saturday night, the Kaligandaki and Seti rivers were flowing as usual.
At 12 midnight, after information reached the local Seti Beni Police Post that the water level of the Kaligandaki had significantly increased in the upper region, instructions were immediately given to take important documents and vacate the post for a safe location. Shortly after the police vacated the post and urged nearby locals to move to safe places from the settlement, the floodwaters of the Kaligandaki and Seti rivers entered the market.
