Two Arrested for Selling Expired Food with New Labels in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Police have arrested two people from Kathmandu on charges of selling expired food items by affixing new dates and fake labels. Those arrested are 40-year-old Bijendra Sah, originally from Bara Prasuni Rural Municipality-1 and currently residing in Tinathana, Kathmandu, and 49-year-old Akhilesh Prasad Kalwar, originally from Parsa Bindabasini Rural Municipality-2 and also residing in Tinathana.
A joint team of the District Police Range Kathmandu and the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control took them under control during an on-site inspection at Siddhivinayak Food Store located in Tinathana, Chandragiri Municipality-15. During the inspection, they were found to be re-labeling expired food items by affixing new dates, the police said.
