Book Review: 'Web of Fraud in Cooperatives' Highlights Systemic Issues

Nepal's cooperative movement is currently in a serious state of transition. Misappropriation of savings, loan fraud, institutional irregularities, weak management, ineffective auditing, and regulatory shortcomings in some cooperatives have deeply hurt the trust of millions of savers.

However, this crisis cannot be understood as merely the personal crime of a few operators or individuals. It is also linked to the gap between law and its implementation, political influence, regulatory weaknesses, member apathy, and questions of institutional capacity.
