Kaski Police Take Action Against 882 Modified Motorcycles Under 'Operation 365'

Pokhara. Kaski Police have taken action against 882 motorcycles for modification and running with loud sound under 'Operation 365' which started last year in October. The District Police Office has stated that 36 motorcycle riders have been taken into custody and action has been taken during this period. On Friday alone, 11 motorcycles with modified appearance and causing noise pollution were taken into custody and action is being processed, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Kumar Paswan of the office. He stated that the District Police Office and District Traffic Police Office have been jointly conducting 'Operation 365'. He mentioned that motorcycle riders who create terror in society and argue with the police during checks are taken into custody and action is taken. Some motorcycle riders are being counseled and handed over to their families. Motorcycle riders who roam around making noise, cause noise pollution, create fear in society, and ride modified motorcycles have been brought under the purview of action. The police launched 'Operation 365' to control such activities after public complaints increased about motorcycle parts being changed to modify their appearance, loud and bursting sounds coming from silencers, noise pollution during the night, and disruption of social peace and order. The police have requested the public to report any motorcycles seen roaming around making noise, causing noise pollution, or being modified to the nearest police station. The confidentiality of the informant will be maintained. According to the law, changing the silencer, seat, color, appearance, number plate, looking glass, shock, handle, engine, or chassis of a vehicle without permission, or installing parts that cause noise pollution, can result in a fine of up to Rs 15,000 as per the Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 2049. Kaski Police had also taken motorcycles of this nature into custody and brought them under the purview of action as a campaign last year.
