Alphabet, the parent company of Google, set a new annual sales record in 2021, exhibiting no signs of the lingering coronavirus epidemic or ongoing supply chain difficulties. The company's sales increased by 41% year over year to $257 billion in fiscal year 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2021, the firm recorded sales of $75.3 billion, up 32% over the previous year. In a statement accompanying the earnings release, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, "Q4 saw continued strong growth in our advertising business, which helped millions of businesses thrive and find new customers, a quarterly sales record for our Pixel phones despite supply constraints, and our Cloud business continuing to grow strongly."
In addition, the business announced a 20-for-1 stock split that would begin in July. Google doesn't usually break apart data for devices like its Pixel phones, Nest smart home gadgets, or the Android operating system, instead lumping them together under "Google other" in the "Google Services" section. YouTube and Search, two of the company's best-performing areas, are also included in the "Services" category. For the fourth quarter, the "Google other" category raked in $8.16 billion in revenue. For the quarter, Google earned $61.24 billion in advertising income.
