Martadi-Kolti Road Construction Faces Decades-Long Delays, Locals Endure Hardship

Dhangadhi. The Martadi-Kolti road, which connects Bajura's headquarters Martadi with the eastern-northern areas of the district and Humla and Mugu of Karnali Province, has not yet become a smooth route for passengers. Decades after the road construction began, locals continue to suffer throughout the year during the monsoon due to the lack of necessary infrastructure.
The distance from Martadi to Kolti is approximately 42 kilometers. Due to the condition of the road and the lack of bridges in places, passengers have to change vehicles multiple times during a single journey. The problem becomes more complicated when rivers flood during the rainy season. Local representatives say that sometimes passengers have to pay an additional fare of up to two thousand rupees for a normal journey.
