Former UK Ambassador to US, Lord Mandelson, Arrested by Police Over Alleged Misuse of Public Office

London. Lord Peter Mandelson, an influential figure in British politics and former Ambassador to the United States, has been arrested by police. The Metropolitan Police in London detained him on Monday at his residence in Camden, North London, on suspicion of abusing his public office while in a position of power.

The 72-year-old Mandelson faces serious allegations of providing confidential and market-sensitive information to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a minister. Police raided and searched two of Mandelson's addresses in Wiltshire and Camden on Monday. Immediately afterward, plainclothes officers took him from his residence by car to the station.
