Delhi High Court Rules Father Cannot Use Daughter's Investment for Maintenance

New Delhi. The Delhi High Court has ruled that money invested for a daughter's education cannot be used by the father to fulfill his maintenance obligations towards his wife and daughter.
In its verdict in the case of 'Sudhir Kwatra versus Shamli Kwatra', Justice Neena Bansal Krishna's bench stated that the daughter is fully entitled to receive the investment made in her name. 'A father can only have rights as a guardian in an investment account opened in his daughter's name, not as an owner,' the verdict stated.
