Two children found dead, one missing after drowning in Lal Bakaiya River, Rautahat

Rautahat. The bodies of two out of three children who went missing while bathing in the Lal Bakaiya River in Laxminia, Deewana Gonahi Municipality-2, Rautahat have been found. The bodies of two children were found about one and a half kilometers from the scene near Jingdia bridge around 6:30 AM on Wednesday, according to the Area Police Office Deewana Gonahi. According to Inspector Tej Prasad Bhattarai, chief of the Area Police Office Deewana Gonahi, the bodies found were those of Sheikh Kamre Alam's approximately 10-year-old son Mo. Ramtullah and Sheikh Osil Akhtar's approximately 10-year-old daughter Shabnam Khatun from Laxminia, Deewana Gonahi Municipality-2. However, Sheikh Khursaid's approximately 10-year-old daughter Raushan Khatun is still missing. Police have stated that the search for her is ongoing. The three children had gone missing due to drowning while bathing and swimming in the Lal Bakaiya River around 2 PM on Tuesday. Upon receiving information about the incident, 9 police personnel from the Area Police Office Deewana Gonahi, under the command of Inspector Bhattarai, reached the scene. Similarly, a team of 7 people led by ASI Bhakt Bahadur Shahi from the Armed Police Force Nepal Security Base Deewana was also mobilized for search and rescue. A 9-member diving rescue (DM) team from Armed Police Force Nepal No. 11 Brigade Headquarters Rautahat, under the command of ASI Bhim Bahadur Pun, has been mobilized to the scene with rubber boats for the search of the missing girl. According to DSP Basanta Gautam, spokesperson for the District Police Office Rautahat, a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police has intensified the search for Raushan Khatun, who is missing in the Lal Bakaiya River. Police have stated that the incident site is about 6 kilometers south of the Area Police Office Deewana Gonahi.
