World Marks Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness Day Amid Rising Global Tensions

Kathmandu. Today is the International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness. This day is being observed in various countries around the world with awareness programs related to controlling the arms race, nuclear non-proliferation, and peace and security.

Following the resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 7, 2022, deciding to observe every March 5 as the day against the arms race, this day was formally celebrated for the first time on March 5, 2023.
